Comprehension
Comprehension is important because we use it in almost every facet of our life.
we aim to increase reading comprehension in our sessions by asking analytical questions about the text, going over tough words for their lexile range, helping summarize books among other things. This will help children understand the message and depth behind each book.
Reading Speed
Reading speed is an important criteria for children today. We aim to increase this by having our volunteers have timed reading sessions and track progress children over time.
Lexile
In North America, Lexile rates are the standard for measuring a Childs reading ability. The higher it is, the more advanced books someone can read. We will steadily raise the lexile level of texts that your child is reading to increae thier reading skill.
